We are nearly at the end of the course and the course contents and assignments have all been released in the portal. We hope you have been able to benefit from the same. The final exam will consist of short answer and multiple choice questions covering topics from all the modules of course contents. Empirical formulae for mix design, durability tests, basic tests such as packing density tests etc are important. There will be both numerical and theory based questions in the exam.
The students having issues with exam centre and hall ticket are requested to contact NPTEL office. Wishing you all the very best.

Regarding error in submission time of Assignment 8
Dear Students,
Due to some technical glitch, the submission time of Assignment 8 was wrongly registered as 11:59 am instead of 11:59 pm. We will update soon regarding the same.
In the meantime, please note that only 8 out of the 12 assignments will be considered for final marks and assignments have only 25% weightage overall. From our side we will ensure that nobody loses out on marks well deserved for the efforts.
Cheers and Happy learning.
Re-evaluation of questions from assignments-61 and 7
In assignment 6 Q.No. 5, there has been confusion in using 1600 or 1800 kg/cu.m for bulk density of coarse aggregate, hence answers obtained using both the values are considered by extending the range. Range for Q6. continues to remain the same since it was clearly mentioned to use 1800 kg/cum.for it.
In assignment 7 Q.No. 6, option c (Adopting a higher initial slump value) has also been considered as right answer.
Please check your updated scores. For any queries related to scores, please send relevant screenshots also.

Clarification on Assignment 6
The questions says to design M35 grade of concrete. For the case of this assignment, please assume that 35 MPa corresponds to the characteristic cylinder strength. You need not apply any conversion factor from cube to cylinder strength etc.,

Corrections in Assignment 5 and Assignment 6 questions
Assignment 5
The supplied chart (Fig. 19.4) for finding the proportion of fine aggregates corresponds to 20mm m.s.a; whereas the given question is for 40 mm m.s.a aggregate. However, you are requested to use the same chart supplied and your answers will be considered based on this chart only.
Assignment 6
The standard deviations in strength measured
from two distinct sets, each having 15 samples, are obtained as 3 MPa and 4 MPa respectively.
