Please read this "Terms of Usage" (TOU) agreement before accessing or
participating in any course or service made available by NPTEL with entry-
point URL (http:// nptel.ac.in). By registering or participating in this site,
you acknowledge that you have read the terms of use, will comply with them and
agree that the terms of use constitutes a binding legal agreement between you
& NPTEL. If you do not understand or do not agree to be bound by the terms
of use, please do not access this site. NPTEL reserves the right to modify TOU
at any time without advance notice. Any changes to this "TOU" agreement will be
effective immediately upon posting on this page with the updated effective
date. Please visit this page periodically to ensure familiarity with the most
current version of TOU.
AGE RESTRICTIONS
This site is restricted to individuals over 18 years of age. By accessing,
registering or participating in this site, you hereby declare that you are over
18 years of age. In addition, those who wish to register and participate must
meet the minimum requirements laid out in the Terms of Use (this document) and
abide by the Honor Code. If you do not qualify or do not agree to these
terms, you may not use the Site.
RULES FOR ONLINE CONDUCT
You agree that you are responsible for your own use of the Site and for your
User Postings. "User Postings" include all content submitted, posted, published
or distributed on the Site by you or other users of the Site, including but not
limited to all forum posts, notes, questions, comments, videos and file
uploads. Although NPTEL does not routinely screen or monitor user postings to
the site, NPTEL reserves the right (but is under no obligation) to remove any
prohibited content in its discretion. You agree that you will use the Site in
compliance with this TOU agreement, the Honor Code and all applicable
local, state, national and international laws, rules and regulations, including
copyright laws.
RIGHT OF MODIFICATION
Any change or modification to the Terms of Use will be effective immediately
upon posting on our website. We reserve the right to change or modify the Terms
of Use at our discretion at any time.
DISCLAIMER
You agree and acknowledge that nothing in these Terms of Use or otherwise, with
respect to your access or use of any Online Course or Site (a) enrolls or
registers you in any university or other educational institution, or in any
course offered by any university or other educational institution, (b)
establishes any relationship between you and any university or other
educational institution with which NPTEL may be affiliated, or (c) entitles you
to access or use the resources of any university or other educational
institution beyond the Online Courses provided by the Sites. In addition you
agree and acknowledge that neither user posting nor the content on any links to
other websites, are screened, moderated, approved, reviewed or endorsed by
NPTEL. NPTEL is not responsible or liable for content of any postings therein.
COPYRIGHT
All content or other materials available on the Sites, including but not
limited to code, images, text, layouts, arrangements, displays, illustrations,
audio and video clips, HTML files and other content are the property of NPTEL
and/or its affiliates or licensors and are protected by copyright. All rights
in the Site and its content, if not expressly granted, are reserved by NPTEL.
USER MATERIAL SUBMISSION
By submitting or distributing your User Postings, you affirm, represent and
warrant (1) that you have the necessary rights, licenses, consents and/or
permissions to reproduce and publish the User Postings and to authorize NPTEL
and its users to reproduce, modify, publish and otherwise use and distribute
your User Postings in a manner consistent with the licenses granted by you
below, and (2) that neither your submission of your User Postings nor the
exercise of the licenses granted below will infringe or violate the rights of
any third party. You, and not NPTEL, are solely responsible for your User
Postings and the consequences of posting or publishing them.
PRIVACY POLICY
Privacy Policy covers all information we collect from you through our Site.
Including but not limited to personal Information, when you sign up for a user
account, participate in online courses, register for the proctored exam, send
us email messages and/or participate in our public forums. In addition
collection of certain usage information about student performance and patterns
of learning might occur. This includes tracking information indicating, among
other things, which pages of our Site were visited, the order in which they
were visited, when they were visited and which hyperlinks and other user
interface controls were used, etc. We may also log the IP address, operating
system and browser software used by each user of the Site, and we may be able
to determine from an IP address a user's Internet Service Provider and the
geographic location of his or her point of connectivity. Various web analytics
tools are used to collect this information.

Neither NPTEL nor the Participating Institutions do not routinely screen,
approve, review or endorse the contents of or use of any of the products or
services that may be offered at these sites. These other websites are not under
our control, and you acknowledge and agree that NPTEL is not responsible for
the collection and use of your information by such websites.
ARBITRATION & JURISDICTION
You agree that any claim or dispute in any manner whatsoever arising out of or
relating to these TOU or any content or service obtained from or through the
site will be resolved through arbitration by a sole arbitrator to be appointed
by NPTEL ONLINE COURSES. The place of arbitration shall be Chennai. It is
specifically agreed that competent courts in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India shall
have exclusive jurisdiction over the subject matter of this agreement.
