  1. Login with the course enrolled mail id.
  2. Clicking on the course name will redirect to the score board.
  3. Click on Exam Scores - Both the Assignment scores and Exam score will be displayed.
  4. Final score is the certification score

Dear Candidate:

If you have registered and paid successfully for the October 28th 2018 NPTEL Online certification exam, your Admit Card/ Hall ticket is now available inside your application form:

Exam and Certificate Format : Biology for engineers and other non-biologists

Dear Learners,

Type of exam: Computer based exam 

You will have to appear at the allotted exam centre and produce your Hall ticket and Government Photo Identification Card(Example: Driving License,Passport, PAN card, Voter ID, Aadhaar-ID with your Name, date of birth, photograph and signature) for verification and take the exam in person. You can find the allotted exam center details in the hall ticket.

The questions will be on the computer and the answers will have to be entered on the computer; type of questions may include multiple choice questions, fill in the blanks, essay type answers, etc

The hall ticket will be available for download tentatively around  17th October,2018 to 20th October 2018. We will notify the same through email.

FINAL CERTIFICATE:

The final score = 25% assignment score + 75% final certification exam score.

The final score will determine if you will/will not receive a certificate.

1. Final score < 40%: NO certificate

2. Final score between 40% -59%: Certificate of type "Successfully completing the course"

3. Final score between 60% -89%: Certificate with tag "Elite" printed at the top

4. Final score of 90% and above: Certificate with "Elite" tag and the gold medal printed on it.

Discussion forum and certification exam

1. This is a certification course and there will be a certification exam conducted on 28th October. The online registration for this exam closes on 10th September, Monday at 10 AM. So if anyone did not know this information earlier, and interested in giving the final certification exam, please enlist yourself for the same at :  http://nptelonlinecourses.iitm.ac.in/
(you can refer the original announcement in the announcements section for more details on this)

2. Since this is a course specifically designed for non-Biology candidates, we expect a lot of fruitful and interesting discussion happening on the discussion forum. Also, many times, there will be a same or similar doubts to more than one learner. We request you to ask any doubt you have (big or small) regarding the course content or technical issues on the discussion forum (you can access the discussion forum by clicking the "Ask a Question" tab in the course home page). We will be happy to answer them. Please note that you can post a question or answer on the discussion forum by logging into the course page.

However,  the discussion forum mails will not automatically come to the mail id's of all the enrolled learners. So, if you want to see the discussion forum activity (questions and answers) and participate in it directly from your registered mail id itself (without logging into the course every time), you can subscribe to the discussion forum by clicking the "Join group" button in the "Ask a Question" page. If you do not like to be disturbed by frequent or too many mails from the forum, you can always change the settings to daily digest (all of one day's discussion will be sent at once) or 25 emails at once etc.

Dear learners,

Welcome! to the course on biology for engineers and other non-biologists. It is nice to see the interest toward this course. Some of you have already started interacting with us, and we highly welcome interactions.  We expect our participants to have diverse backgrounds, and we have made special efforts to cater to the needs of all our participants. We look forward to your feed-back.

Abhiram Charan Tej and Sonal Omer, our research scholars who are working with us for their Ph.D.s, will be your teaching assistants for this course.  Together, we will address your learning needs.

The course formally opens on 27th August 2018. The lessons for the first week have already been made available.

As given in the course introduction page, this course will consist of Introduction + 5 modules that will be presented in 4 weeks. There are a total of 22 `lectures' of varying duration (some are as short as about 15 min) in which the information will be presented.

The organization of this course is different from the traditional one found in books. The reference books for the course are available in the course introduction page. A file which contains a number of links for additional useful information (websites/videos/journal articles/etc.,) is also available. That file can be accessed by clicking the `text version’ button on the top right of the video. We will also point out the additional useful information at the appropriate points during the lectures.

There will be assignments, one per week, which need to be submitted by a meet-line (about 8 days after it is made available). The assignments are designed to improve the understanding of the course material.  They will also carry 25% weight toward the final marks, as required by NPTEL.

The proctored exam will be on the same lines as the assignments, which will carry 75% weight toward the final marks. Please ignore the minor errors on this and other obvious ones in the video. The dates for the exam are available in the course introduction page.

All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) the statutory body and a national-level council for technical education, under Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development and NPTEL have signed an MOU on July 24, 2018 whereby advanced NPTEL online certification courses are approved for Faculty Development Programme (FDP) by AICTE.

REMINDER-1 REGISTER TODAY - CERTIFICATION EXAM FORM IS NOW OPEN!

Dear Learner:

Here is the much-awaited announcement on registering for the October 2018 certification exam. The registration for the certification exam is open only to students who have enrolled in the course.  If you want to register for the exam for this course, login using the same email id used to enroll to the course.

Till the start date of the course, every Monday and Thursday at 5pm, we will sync the enrollment data on the exam form. If you enroll in between, please wait till the nearest Monday/Thursday to register for the exam. Once the enrollment is closed, the enrollment data will be completely loaded and you can register any time.

HALL TICKET:

Award of certificate:  Hard and soft copy of Certificate will be awarded only to those candidates who register for the exam, attend the certificate examination and whose Final score >= 40%

The final score, assignment score and exam score will be printed on the certificate. The certificate will also have a link to the NPTEL website (http://nptel.ac.in/noc), where on logging in, your scores and e-certificate will be available for verification  (Appropriate announcements will be made). Please do regularly submit assignments to get a good final score.

IMPORTANT NOTES

1) FOR CANDIDATES WHO WOULD LIKE TO WRITE MORE THAN 1 COURSE EXAM:- you can add or delete courses and pay separately – till the date when the exam form closes. No changes will be entertained after that.   You can register for a maximum of 4 course exams ( 2 on Oct 7 and 2 on Oct 28. Same day of exam – you can write exams for 2 courses in the 2 sessions. Same center will be allocated for both the sessions).

2) FOR CANDIDATES WHO ARE PAYING VIA THE LOCAL CHAPTER OF YOUR COLLEGE:-

1. In the exam form, you will fill all the details and also upload photo, signature.
2. Ensure that you had selected your college name correctly from the drop-down list in the form.
3. Payment of exam fees - click on the tab - 'PAY VIA SPOC'.
The SPOC has to now confirm to NPTEL that he/she will pay fees on your behalf.
If the SPOC says NO, you will be intimated via email.
Then it becomes your responsibility to come back to the exam form and make the payment.
If you do not pay the exam fees within the prescribed time, you will not be able to write the exam.

Welcome to NPTEL Online Courses and Certification!

Thank you for signing up for our online course " Biology for engineers and other non-biologists". We wish you an enjoyable and informative learning experience.

The course will begin on August 27,2018. When content is released on the portal, you will get an email alerting you. Please watch the lectures, follow the course regularly and submit all assessments and assignments before the due date. Your regular participation is vital for learning.

We will open registration for the exam soon after the course starts. A form has to be filled and the certification exam has a fee, which needs to be paid at the time of registration. Everyone who has signed-up for the course, including those who do not register for the exam, will continue to have access to the course contents.

There are two sections on the portal apart from the course content and assignment sections:
•    The announcement list which will only have messages from course instructors and teaching assistants - regarding the lessons, assignments, exam registration, hall tickets etc.
