Introduction to Professional Scientific Communication - Re-evaluation of Assignment 1: Q10
Dear Participants,
This is to inform that there
is a typographical error in the option provided in the question no. 10 of the
week 1 assignment. The option states “The mission failed as the crew could land
on moon, yet the crew could be brought back to the earth safely”, however the
correct statement for the question should be “The mission failed as the crew
could not land on moon, yet the crew could be brought back to the earth
safely”. This question has been removed from the assignment scoring and would not be
considered in the evaluation process. Therefore you might see the score change
in the progress tab.
Thanks,
TAs

Welcome note from Prof. S.Ganesh
Hello Participants: Welcome to the course, Introduction to Professional Scientific Communication. Effective communication is an essential part of professional life, and more so for those involved in academics, research and development. This is an exciting topic, and this course is designed to help you master scientific communication skill sets - writing as well as orals. I advise you to go through the first-week lectures, though introductory in nature, as that would provide a foundation as to how to evolve an effective hypothesis and will form basis for the topics to be covered in later part of the course. We will have periodic assignments that would test your understanding. To help you with the process, we will also be posting links for reading materials, and handouts with practice problems. We also plan to have two live interactive sessions, via the Google Hangout platform, wherein we will be responding to your queries and doubts live. These sessions are most likely will be conducted on a Saturday or a Sunday, and the details (date/time) will be posted to you in advance. I also advise that you send us any course related queries using this course portal as this is being attended to by my senior PhD students/postdocs (TAs) as well, and you will get a quicker response. Emails to my personal IITK email ID please be avoided as they may not be attended to immediately. Good luck with your studies! Professor S. Ganesh
