C++: Mark/weightage distribution for certification Exam
Dear Students,
Most of you are asking about the wieghtage distribution of the exam and the assignment for certification grading.
Though it has been cleared mentioned in the prev. announcements.
Any kindly look into the below distribution chat.
Final score on certificate: 25% of assignment score (best 6 out of 8) + 75% of certification exam score. (It is already had announced at the beginning of the course, 2nd August)
Certification exam score =
Score of 21st Sept (Programming) + Score of 24th Sept exam (Non programming, i.e only MCQ, MSQ and short answer type), Announcement done on 22nd August
= The Entire score(out of 20 mark) of 21st Exam will be taken into account + 80% of 24th Sept. exam
= y (say)
Now Final score on certificate = 0.25* Assignment Score + 0.75 *y

It is reminder for Tomorrow Programming test.
It is of 20 Marks (10QSs x 2 Marks each, weightage is 100%). The exam date: 21st Sept.
The platform you are using for programming assignment, we will be using the same for the test.
You will be getting a section named as "21st Sept. Programming Test (Slot-1/ Slot2)" just bellow the "Assignment solution" section, At the right time, this link will be enabled and you could able to see all the QSs inside it.
. You can appear this exam in your home/college/internet cafe/ as per your convenient location where
you can get a broadband internet connectivity (or any Good speed internet). It will be conducted in two slots.
Slot-1: 10:30AM to 12:30PM (Morning session)
Slot-2: 9PM to 11 PM (Evening session)
Candidates are free to appear the test, in any one or both of the sessions. The best score out of two will be taken into account for the final grading
You are advised to log into the portal at least 5/10 mt before the exam time.

To Avoid this confusion, we are providing a "sample programming test" section. It will be found, just below the Assignment solution section.
The way "sample programming test" section does appear, In the same way, You will be getting a section named as
"programming test: 21st Sept- Slot1/Slot-2" on 21st Sept.
So don't panic, just follow the given section and solve the programming QSs as you used to solve programming assignments.
Introduction to Programming in C: About the online programming exam.
Dear students
This is a reminder about the online programming test for NPTEL Introduction to programming in C on Sunday, 17 September.
We will have an online programming test to be taken from your home/college, on September 17,Sunday. There are two time slots, and you may choose to write in any one session or both of them.
1) September 17, 10am - 1pm
2) September 17, 2pm - 5pm.
• The exam will be conducted on the onlinecourses.nptel.ac.in portal. It will be configured just as weekly assignments are done and will be open for this exact time duration.
• You will have to login to the portal using your id and submit as you do with a regular assignment.
• Forum will be closed during this time period. The score will be calculated on the online platform just as in the homeworks. You will be awarded points based on the number of private test cases your code passes.
• The exam will appear on the left sidebar around the scheduled time, below the sample test.
• This programming exam will carry 25% weightage towards the final score.

C++ Certification Exam: Important announcement
Dear students,
The certification exam for Programming C++, of 100 Marks will be conducted online in two phases.
Phase-1: Non Programming test:- This will be held on 24th Sept as per your earlier announcement.
You need to go to the allotted exam center and appear the exam (it will be of 100 marks the weightage is 80% ).
The Question type of this exam will be purely of MCQ, MSQ, SA(Short Answer) type.
Phase-2: Programming test:- It is of 20 Marks (10QSs x 2 Marks each, weightage is 100%). The exam date: 21st Sept.
The platform you are using for programming assignment, we will be using the same for the test.
. You can appear this exam in your home/college/internet cafe/ as per your convenient location where

The certification exam will be conducted at

Type of exam: Computer based exam (Online)
Online:
You
will have to appear at the allotted exam centre and produce your Hall
ticket and Government Photo Identification Card(Example: Driving
License,Passport, PAN card, Voter ID, Aadhaar-ID with your Name, date of
birth, photograph and signature) for verification and take the exam in
person. You can find the allotted exam center details in the hall
ticket.
The questions will be on the computer and the answers
will have to be entered on the computer; type of questions may include
multiple choice questions, fill in the blanks, essay type answers, etc
The hall ticket will be available for download tentatively around 10 -16th September 2017. We will notify the same through email.
FINAL CERTIFICATE:
The final score = 25% assignment score + 75% final certification exam score.
The final score will determine if you will/will not receive a certificate.
1. Final score < 40%: NO certificate
2. Final score between 40% -59%: Certificate of type "Successfully completing the course"
3. Final score between 60% -89%: Certificate with tag "Elite" printed at the top
4. Final score of 90% and above: Certificate with "Elite" tag and the gold medal printed on it.

The due date is 16th August, 11:59PM.
For Programming Assignments kindly follow the steps bellow
1. Click on the Programming Assignment you want to solve and read out the instructions carefully
2. "Select the Language for this assignment" as C++ from drop down box
3. Fill in blank only, without modifying the rest of the code as per the given instruction and given test cases.
4. 4. Press the button "Compile & Run".
i) If you have correctly filled up the blanks then your compilation will be successful with a message like below (Provided there exist 2 public test cases)
OR (You may get a message below)
ii) If there is a problem in your solution, You will get some other messages, Go through the error messages and try to rectify your program.
5. Now press "Submit" button to submit your assignment.
6. After submission if you get a message You scored 100.0/100
then your submission is successful. If you got a message You scored 0.0/100
then the private test cases which is hidden from you, fails. Now You need to properly check your solution.

Registration is open from 2nd AUGUST 2017 (Wednesday) until 23rd AUGUST 2017 10:00 AM (Wednesday).

Dates of exam: 24th September 2017(Sunday) [Forenoon-Shift 1/Afternoon Shift 2]

of exam – 2 sessions. Same center will be allocated for both the
sessions).

The final score,
assignment score and exam score will be printed on the certificate. The
certificate will also have a link to the NPTEL website (http://nptel.ac.in/noc),
where on logging in, your scores and e-certificate will be available
for verification (Appropriate announcements will be made). Please do
regularly submit assignments to get a good final score.
IMPORTANT NOTES
1) FOR CANDIDATES WHO WOULD LIKE TO WRITE MORE THAN 1 COURSE EXAM:-
Once the registration form is submitted after payment, no changes like
adding or removing the chosen course, exam shift, city is possible. So,
if you are choosing to write 2 course exams, please choose suitably and make
the payment for both courses at the same time. It is not possible to
pay later for the second course. Once the payment is made, only basic
details will be editable.
2) FOR CANDIDATES WHO ARE PAYING VIA THE LOCAL CHAPTER OF YOUR COLLEGE:-
There are 2 modes of operation:
Option 1
1. You will pay fees to your SPOC.
2. Your SPOC will pay the fees to NPTEL on your behalf and also will provide us all details including photo, signature.
3. We will populate all the fields in the exam form.
4. Your responsibility will be to come to the exam form and verify that the details in the exam form are correct.
Option 2
1. In the exam form, you will fill all the details and also upload photo, signature.
2. Ensure that you had selected your college name correctly from the drop-down list in the form.
3. Payment of exam fees - click on the tab - 'PAY VIA SPOC'.
The SPOC has to now confirm to NPTEL that he/she will pay fees on your behalf.
If the SPOC says NO, you will be intimated via email.
Then it becomes your responsibility to come back to the exam form and make the payment.
If you do not pay the exam fees within the prescribed time, you will not be able to write the exam.
After submitting the form, in case you wish to change the name, date of birth, address, photo and signature. Please login to http://nptelonlinecourses.iitm.ac.in/edit_details.php and make the changes till August 23, 2017.
The
following data initially submitted cannot be changed –email id, course
selected, shift, exam city, SC/ST. For changes in this email us at
nptel@iitm.ac.in giving your Application number, email id and name. No
changes will be entertained in these details after August 23 2017.

Welcome to NPTEL Online Course : Programming in C++
Dear Candidate
Welcome to NPTEL Online Courses and Certification!
Thank you for signing up for our online course “Programming in C++". We wish you an enjoyable and informative learning experience.
The course will begin on July 24, 2017. When content is released on the portal, you will get an email alerting you. Please watch the lectures, follow the course regularly and submit all assessments and assignments before the due date. Your regular participation is vital for learning.
We will open registration for the exam soon after the course starts. A form has to be filled and the certification exam has a fee, which needs to be paid at the time of registration. Everyone who has signed-up for the course, including those who do not register for the exam, will continue to have access to the course contents.
There are two sections on the portal apart from the course content and assignment sections:
• The announcement list which will only have messages from course instructors and teaching assistants - regarding the lessons, assignments, exam registration, hall tickets etc.
• The discussion forum which is for everyone to ask questions and interact - If you have any questions regarding the technical content in the lectures, any doubts in the assignments or any question related to the exam, registration, hall tickets, results, etc, kindly write about this in the forum and the course instructor/TA will respond to it. Please use this well and participate to benefit from the course.
