Marks for Assignment 3/Q4
Dear All,
I realize that there was a spelling error from my side regarding Q4 in assignment 3. The correct spelling is what was given in the notes and the assignment solution did not have the extra 't'. A lot of you also raised this in the forum.
I have talked to the staff at the NPTEL office and we will disregard that question and everyone will get 10 marks (out of 100) for that question. This will be done during the final evaluation, so you will not see it now in your progress tab. I am also locking all the threads related to this issue, in the form.
I would like to apologize for creating this confusion from my end. I shall try to be careful in the future and also give you hints so you know what exactly we are looking for in the short answer questions.

Happy new year greetings
Dear All,
Wishing you a happy and successful 2016.
I'll be releasing the first set of lecture videos early next week. This is for you to get an idea of the basics and give you more time at the beginning. Videos for the other weeks will be released after the official start of the course on Jan 18.
Along with each video, there are also lecture notes. These are in PDF format and can be accessed by clicking on the link "Text Version", at the top of each video. These notes complement the videos so that if you have sections that are difficult to follow, you can use the notes.
I'll also create a discussion thread in the forum, for each week, so that you can ask questions pertaining to the lessons. Srinivas or I can answer the questions and other students can join in. Depending on the amount of activity, we can also make threads for individual lessons.
Do hope all of you will actively participate in this course and get something useful out of it.
