Here is the much-awaited announcement on registering for the September 2016 certification exam. The registration for the certification exam is only open to students who have enrolled in the course.
Registration is open from 2nd AUGUST 2016 (Tuesday) until 22nd AUGUST 2016 5.00 PM (Monday).
The certification exam registration URL is : http://nptelonlinecourses.
(If you want to register for the exam for this course that started on July 18th, login here using the same email id used to enroll to the course)
Dates of exam: 18th September 2016 / 25 September 2016 (You can choose either date according to your convenience for writing the exam)
Exam Session time: 2 PM - 5 PM
Examination Cities: The exam is to be conducted in several cities across India whose list is available on the registration form. Click here to access the list of exam cities: http://nptel.ac.in/noc/
Registration fees: Rs 1000/-
(Students belonging to the SC/ST category can avail a 50% fee waiver - please select Yes for the SC/ST option and upload the correct certificate)
Mode of payment: Online payment - debit card/credit card/net banking or cash
Type of exam: Online (on the computer - MCQ/MSQ,Fill in the blanks)
The hall ticket will be available for download tentatively from 9thSeptember 2016. We will confirm the same through an announcement.
Final score on certificate: 25% of assignment score + 75% of certification exam score.
Award of certificate: Certificate will be awarded only to those candidates who register for the exam, attend the certificate examination and whose Final score > 40%
The final score, assignment score and exam score will be printed on the certificate. The certificate will also have a link to the NPTEL website(http://nptel.ac.in/noc), where on logging in, your scores and e-certificate will be available for verification (Appropriate announcements will be made). Please do regularly submit assignments to get a good final score.
IMPORTANT NOTES
1) FOR CANDIDATES WHO WOULD LIKE TO WRITE MORE THAN 1 COURSE EXAM:- Once the registration form is submitted after payment, no changes like adding or removing the chosen course, exam date, city is possible. So, if you are choosing to write 2 course exams, please choose suitably and make the payment for both courses at the same time. Its not possible to pay later for the second course. Once the payment is made, the registration form will be non-editable.
2) FOR CANDIDATES WHO HAVE GOT SCHOLARSHIP VIA YOUR LOCAL CHAPTER: -
Students who have got scholarship via NPTEL local chapter can opt to pay individually using the above form. While doing so, the reduced fee will automatically apply.
3) FOR CANDIDATES WHO ARE PAYING VIA THE LOCAL CHAPTER OF YOUR COLLEGE:-
If you are paying fee via Local chapter of your college, ONLY After the SPOC of your college has finished uploading the Bulk-Payment details for the September exam, please access this form and add your signature, photo and certificate (in case of SC/ST), if not already given and verify if the details given are correct. This step is mandatory for generating the hall ticket.
If there are any changes/issues/concerns, please write to nptel@iitm.ac.in giving your Application number, email id, course registered for, name and mention the change required. No changes will be entertained in these details after August 22 2016.

Revised Announcement Regarding Exam and Certificate Format
Dear All,
Kindly ignore the earlier announcement regarding the Exam and Certificate Format
Scoring Pattern (Revised) :
Final score on certificate = 25% of best 6 out of 8 assignments + 75% exam score
Award of Certificates :
Candidates who register and attend the certificate examination of "Health Research Fundamentals" will be awarded certificates based on the following categories.
1. A candidate who scores between 35% - 49% gets the "certificate of participation"
2. A candidate who scores between 50% - 69% gets the Certificate for "successfully
completing the course"
3. A candidate who scores between 70% - 89% gets the tag "Elite"
printed at the top of the certificate.
4. A candidate who scores between 90% - 100% will have "Elite"
tag and the gold medal printed on it.
Kindly note that no certificate will be awarded to the candidates who score less than 35%
The final score, assignment score and exam score will be printed on the certificate. The certificate will also have a link to the NPTEL website (http://nptel.ac.in/noc), where on logging in, your scores and e-certificate will be available for verification (Appropriate announcements will be made). Please do regularly submit assignments to get a good final score.

Final score on certificate: 25% of assignment score + 75% of certification exam score.
Award of certificate:
Certificate will be awarded only to those candidates who register for
the exam, attend the certificate examination and whose Final score > 40%
The
final score, assignment score and exam score will be printed on the
certificate. The certificate will also have a link to the NPTEL website (http://nptel.ac.in/noc),
where on logging in, your scores and e-certificate will be available
for verification (Appropriate announcements will be made). Please do
regularly submit assignments to get a good final score.
IMPORTANT NOTES
1) FOR CANDIDATES WHO WOULD LIKE TO WRITE MORE THAN 1 COURSE EXAM:-
Once the registration form is submitted after payment, no changes like
adding or removing the chosen course, exam date, city is possible. So,
if you are choosing to write 2 course exams, please choose suitably and make
the payment for both courses at the same time. Its not possible to pay
later for the second course. Once the payment is made, the registration
form will be non-editable.
2) FOR CANDIDATES WHO HAVE GOT SCHOLARSHIP VIA YOUR LOCAL CHAPTER: -
Students
who have got scholarship via NPTEL local chapter can opt to pay
individually using the above form. While doing so, the reduced fee will
automatically apply.
3) FOR CANDIDATES WHO ARE PAYING VIA THE LOCAL CHAPTER OF YOUR COLLEGE:-
If
you are paying fee via Local chapter of your college, ONLY After the
SPOC of your college has finished uploading the Bulk-Payment details for
the September exam, please access this form and add your signature,
photo and certificate (in case of SC/ST), if not already given and
verify if the details given are correct. This step is mandatory for
generating the hall ticket.
If there are any changes/issues/concerns, please write to nptel@iitm.ac.in
giving your Application number, email id, course registered for, name
and mention the change required. No changes will be entertained in these
details after August 22 2016.

Welcome to NIeCer 101: Health Research Fundamentals
Welcome friends!
Thank you for signing up for NIE-ICMR e-certificate course "NIeCer101: Health Research Fundamentals".
The course begins on July 18 2016.
When contents are released on the portal, you will get an email alerting
you. Please watch the lectures, follow the course regularly and submit
all the assignments before the due date. The portal will also have links to the lecture slides and extra reading materials and resources. Every lecture will be followed by a 10 MCQ quiz. The quiz will be graded and these marks used for your final assessment.You are free to attempt any number of times to answer the them before the due date. The last attempt will be taken as your final submission for grading purpose.
Your regular
participation is vital for learning.
We will open
registration for the exam soon. A form has to be filled and the
certification exam has a fee, which needs to be paid at the time of
registration. Everyone who has signed-up for the course, including those
who do not register for the exam, will continue to have access to the
course contents.
There are two sections on the home page apart from the course content and assignment sections:
- The announcement list: It will only have messages from course instructors and teaching assistants - regarding the lessons, assignments, exam registration, hall tickets etc.
- The discussion forum: This is for everyone to ask questions and interact. The forum will be divided into administrative section and threads on weekly course modules (Week1, Week 2... Week 8). If you have any
questions regarding lessons, video and assignments you can post them under each week's thread appropriately. If you have any questions related to the exam, registration, hall tickets, results, etc., kindly write about this under the admin section
