Important information about IMAD-2017 - New content for Mobile Development!
Hi all,
The new IMAD course has officially begun!
The last date for registration is January 30. You can register here.
We got a lot of requests for more content for mobile app development and feedback about the brevity of the course. The January edition of IMAD is an improved version of the previous course and will be different in the following ways -
- 8 week course - A more relaxed pace will give you more time to learn and apply the concepts.
- New content for aspiring Mobile Developers - There will be lectures covering the following topics, which will be a mix of theoretical lectures and practical tutorials.
- Introduction to Mobile Development (Theory)
- Introduction to Android (Theory)
- Lifecycle of an Android App (Theory)
- Developing an Android App (Practical)
- API calls in an Android App (Practical)
- Deploying to the PlayStore (Practical)
- Introduction to iOS (Theory)
- Lifecycle of an iOS App (Theory)
- Developing an iOS App (Practical)
- API calls in an iOS App (Practical)
- Deploying to the AppStore (Practical)
We hope that this new content will give all course participants a strong foundation in their journey to becoming mobile developers. The rest of the course content will remain the same and will follow the same sequence as last time around. Students who have completed the course in September and have registered again for the new course will need to wait till Week 5 for the new content. (We expect to release the new content post 20th February)
We also wanted to inform all the participants of the previous course that their old IMAD apps won't work anymore because we have to set it up for the students who registered for the January course.
If you register as a course participant again, you can continue to use the IMAD console and build your applications.

Assignment changes and rescoring
Dear candidates
1. There were some errors in the following questions given below and we have given "0 points" to this questions:(these questions doesn't have any score)
- Assignment 1, question 16
- Assignment 3, question 5
- Assignment 4, question 1
2. There was an issue in the scoring of assignment 3, 4 and 5. So that students have gotten marks > 100. This has been fixed now. We have reevaluated the assignments and now there will be a score change in your progress tab.
NOTE: Assignment 3, 4 and 5 contains negative marking for wrong options.

Dear Student:
Here is the much-awaited announcement on registering for the October 2016 certification exam. The registration for the certification exam is only open to students who have enrolled in the course.
Registration is open from now - 31st AUGUST 2016 (Wednesday) until 19th SEPTEMBER 2016 10.00 AM (Monday).

(If
you want to register for the exam for this course that started on July
18th or September 05th, login here using the same email id used to
enroll to the course)
Dates of exam: 16th October 2016 / 23 October 2016 (You can choose either date according to your convenience for writing the exam)
Exam Session time: 2 PM - 5 PM
Examination
Cities: The exam is to be conducted in several cities across India
whose list is available on the registration form. Click here to access

Registration fees: Rs 1000/-
(Students
belonging to the SC/ST category can avail a 50% fee waiver - please

NPTEL)

Final score on certificate: 25% of assignment score + 75% of certification exam score.
Award of certificate: Certificate will be awarded only to those candidates who register for the exam, attend the certificate examination and whose Final score > 40%
The
final score, assignment score and exam score will be printed on the
certificate. The certificate will also have a link to the NPTEL website (http://nptel.ac.in/noc),
where on logging in, your scores and e-certificate will be available
for verification (Appropriate announcements will be made). Please do
regularly submit assignments to get a good final score.
IMPORTANT NOTES
1) FOR CANDIDATES WHO WOULD LIKE TO WRITE MORE THAN 1 COURSE EXAM:-
Once the registration form is submitted after payment, no changes like
adding or removing the chosen course, exam date, city is possible. So,
if you are choosing to write 2 course exams, please choose suitably and make
the payment for both courses at the same time. It’s not possible to pay
later for the second course. Once the payment is made, the registration
form will be non-editable.
2) FOR CANDIDATES WHO HAVE GOT SCHOLARSHIP VIA YOUR LOCAL CHAPTER: -
Students
who have got scholarship via NPTEL local chapter can opt to pay
individually using the above form. While doing so, the reduced fee will
automatically apply.
3) FOR CANDIDATES WHO ARE PAYING VIA THE LOCAL CHAPTER OF YOUR COLLEGE:-
If you are paying fee via Local chapter of your college:
a)
If your SPOC has given us your photo & signature then your
registration is complete but please login to verify the details given
are correct using this form.
b) If the SPOC has asked you to fill the
details, Please login and fill all the details in the form and select
payment as "via SPOC of my college".
If
there are any changes/issues/concerns, please write to nptel@iitm.ac.in
giving your Application number, email id, course registered for, name
and mention the change required. No changes will be entertained in these details after September 22 2016 – 12 Noon.
