Clarifications
Dear Students,
With five video lectures and one assessment, we have successfully completed the first week of ‘Language and Mind’. Lot of you have mailed us inquiring about many things. Replying to all your mails individually was a difficult task as you guys are around three thousand in number. A couple of important things that you guys were repeatedly asking us were mostly about the course duration, exam, outline, materials and videos.
1. Course duration and exam dates: The duration of the course is 8 weeks starting from 5th Jan to 27th Feb and the final exams would be held on 22nd and 29th of March. You can choose any one of these two dates to give your final exam.
2. Course materials and outline: Sorry, we are still working on the course outline. You can find it uploaded on the site in a few days. However the course materials required for the first two weeks have been uploaded on the site. Kindly go through them.
3. Video lectures: For those of you who are unable to view the videos, the answer is as simple as YOU ARE NOT ON THE RIGHT SITE. Seems like some of you are relying directly on the You tube channel of Language and Mind. Please note that we are not running the course on You tube. Kindly go to the NPTEL website (https://onlinecourses.nptel.ac.in) and log into the course to view the video lectures, assignments and course materials.
And to those of you who are unable to play the videos, kindly try using a different browser. Also avoid bookmarking the site for later use. The bookmarked page will not be updated as a result of which you might not be able to access the newly uploaded videos of the course.
Hope this is enough clarification.
Assessment details
Five videos shall be released every week; one each day. The weekly assessment shall be uploaded on Friday, the deadline of which shall be the following Wednesday. This weekly assessment is graded and is a requirement for the successful completion of the course.
