ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
Dr. Shantanu Bhattacharya currently holds Professor position in Department of Mechanical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, India. He is also serving as Head of the Design programme at the same institute at present.

Week 1 : Introduction to Design/Product design Week 2 : Stanford model of Design thinking/ Stages of engineering design of products/Introduction to Concurrent engineering Week 3 : Concurrent engineering in Practice Week 4 : Concurrent engineering in Practice Week 5 : Product embodiment design(robustness of design/FMEA techniques). Week 6 : House of quality, Specifications (Fits and Tolerances), Axiomatic Design, Introduction to Group Technology, Creating forms and shapes. Week 7 : Geometric transformation models, Introduction to electronics Week 8 : Material selection process in design, Applied Ergonomics (work systems design, Introduction to bio-mechanics)

CERTIFICATION EXAM :
The exam is optional for a fee.
Date and Time of Exams: April 28 (Saturday) and April 29 (Sunday) : Afternoon session: 2pm to 5pm
Exam for this course will be available in one session on both 28 and 29 April.

CERTIFICATION:
Final score will be calculated as : 25% assignment score + 75% final exam score
25% assignment score is calculated as 25% of average of Best 6 out of 8 assignments
E-Certificate will be given to those who register and write the exam and score greater than or equal to 40% final score. Certificate will have your name, photograph and the score in the final exam with the breakup. It will have the logos of NPTEL and IIT Kanpur. It will be e-verifiable at nptel.ac.in/noc.
