Prerequisites
Mathematics background up to class 12 is needed. Having some preliminary knowledge will be helpful but not necessarily mandatory.
Industries that will recognize this course
All industries involved in mathematical and statistical computations, programming and simulations and having R & D set up will use this course.
Week 1:
Basic fundamentals, installation and use of software, data editing, use of R as a calculator, functions and assignments.
Week 2:
Use of R as a calculator, functions and matrix operations, missing data and logical operators.
Week 3:
Conditional executions and loops, data management with sequences.
Week 4:
Data management with repeats, sorting, ordering, and lists
Week 5:
Vector indexing, factors, Data management with strings, display and formatting.
Week 6:
Data management with display paste, split, find and replacement, manipulations with alphabets, evaluation of strings, data frames.
Week 7:
Data frames, import of external data in various file formats, statistical functions, compilation of data.
Week 8:
Graphics and plots, statistical functions for central tendency, variation, skewness and kurtosis, handling of bivarite data through graphics, correlations, programming and illustration with examples.

Time of exam: Shift 1: 9 am-12 noon; Shift 2: 2 pm-5 pm
Any one shift can be chosen to write the exam for a course
Final List of exam cities will be available in exam registration form.
Registration url - Announcements will be made when the registration form is
open for registrations.
Exam Fee: The online registration form has to be filled and the
certification exam fee of approximately Rs 1000 needs to be paid.
E-Certificate will be given to those who register and write the
exam and score greater than or equal to 40% final score.
Final score = 25% assignment score + 75% exam score
25% assignment score is calculated as 25% of average of Best 6 out of 8 assignments
Certificate will have
your name, photograph and the score in the final exam with the breakup. It will
have the logos of NPTEL and IIT Kanpur. It will be e-verifiable at nptel.ac.in/noc.
